Calgary, where I live, has an amazing and important park system. I'm lucky to live right on the edge of a major park here in the city, so I can walk the 10KM to work almost completely on the park pathway system.
To make things even better, during the winter much of the park pathways are cleared of snow for cyclists. While it may be colder, you can actually cycle commute 12-months a year here in Calgary.
In my case, I need to return to this commuting - I did for awhile, but seem to walk more now - and when it's above freezing. Maybe I need to revisit my biking to work? :)
There is quite a variety to the parks here in the city and you can often see wildlife and interesting plants. We are also fortunate to have areas where there are significant archaeologic sites.
